A New Chapter Ignites

Welcome back to the Primordialog.

A lot has changed since our first issue in June. The Discord that started as the home for Death Zone has grown into something bigger, we wrapped our first year at UwU, and we’re already gearing up for Game On Expo right here in Phoenix.

This issue covers all of it. We’ll walk through what’s new in our community, look back on UwU, look ahead to Game On, and leave you with a few hints about what’s coming next. Some of those hints are more obvious than others.

Community Updates

The Death Zone Discord is now the official Primordial Games Community Server. We have more than one project in development, and we wanted a single place where our community can follow all of them.

Everything that made the old server home is still here, and everyone who’s been with us since day one is still part of it. Here’s what changed:

  • Updated rules that cover the whole community, not just one game.
  • The Observatory, our new stage for devlogs, Q&As, reveals, and community events.
  • A refreshed Community section for chat, media, lore theories, and server suggestions.
  • Creators Corner, a space to share your own art, mods, games, and projects, with a collab board for finding teammates.
  • Playtests, a dedicated space for testers once builds are ready.
  • Self-assignable roles, so you only see and get pinged for what you care about.

Meet Primordial Bot

The server also runs on its own custom bot now, built in-house by the team. Primordial Bot handles onboarding and role selection, posts studio news and new blog posts as they go live (including this one), runs giveaways and reward codes, and takes in bug reports and feedback straight into the dev team’s tracker. It also powers playtest sign-ups, applications for programs like Verified Creator, and private support tickets.

It’s just getting started, and it’ll keep growing alongside the server. If you have an idea for it, drop it in server-suggestions.

While we did not haThis year marked our first time at UwU, and it was a great way to keep the momentum going after Fan Fusion. While we did not have the turnout we hoped for, those of you that did show up made it something special. We got a lot of feedback, and we hope to make our next event even better!

We brought one panel this time around:

  • Crunch Time: Prototyping a Game in Under an Hour – our live demo where we take an idea from nothing to playable on stage, chaos and last-minute fixes included.

To everyone who stopped by or joined us on Discord afterward: thank you. A first year at a new convention is always a gamble, and you made it worth it.

Future Events

In our last issue, we promised Primordial Games would be at Game On Expo this January, right here in Phoenix. While we don’t have any specific details to share, we are working on ensuring we have a presence there.

Here’s what you can expect from us:

  • Panels focused on game development, and inspired by our in-progress games.
  • Giveaways of merch and in-game items.

We’ll share the full schedule in the Discord and here on the blog as the date gets closer. Follow announcements and turn on the Stargazers role so you don’t miss it.

After Game On, we’ll also be bringing Crunch Time to Queen Creek Library Con on March 10, 2027, from 12:00 to 12:45 PM. If you missed it at UwU, come watch us build a game from scratch in under an hour.

Behind the Veil

We can’t say much yet, but we can say this: Death Zone isn’t the only thing we’ve been working on.

The mist in the Death Zone is still thick, and the Lost are still being hunted. Right now, the team is deep in designing the Apostles and the AI that drives them, so every hunt feels deliberate. Alongside that, we’re building out a full networking suite, so you and your fellow Lost can survive the Zone together, or fail to. We’ll have more to show soon.

Somewhere else, something has been burning for a long time. Light doesn’t stay stolen forever.

On the community side, the server will keep evolving too. In the coming months, Primordial Bot will bring more roles to earn, new ways to interact with each other and the team, and features that tie directly into our games.

Keep an eye on the Discord. Some of what’s coming will show up there first, and not all of it will be announced.

Closing Notes

Four months ago, we wrote our first Primordialog after stepping out from behind the screens for the first time. Since then, the community has grown, the server has a new home, and the studio has more on its plate than ever.

None of that happens without you. Thank you for playing, theorizing, sharing your work, and sticking with us through every change.

We’ll see you at Game On.

The mist rises. The fire spreads.
